Echo (Eastlund) Davis, age 99, 10 months, and one day, was called by her heavenly Father to come home to heaven the morning of Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from her earthly home in Grand Haven, MI. She was born on October 9, 1922 in Dobson, Montana to Eric and Esther (Larson) Eastlund.
Echo’s father was a bridge builder, so the family moved around the country for several years until they settled in West Allis, WI, where she grew up. In 1948, Echo asked Jesus Christ to be her Savior and went to Milwaukee Bible Institute, graduating in 1951. She then studied Art and Sociology at Wisconsin State University in Milwaukee, graduating in 1955.
It was her heart’s desire to serve the Lord, and that opportunity came when she met the true love of her life, Robert W. Davis, and married him on November 16, 1957. In 1960, their daughter, Nancy Jean, was born. Echo was a loving mother and companion, living with her daughter and son-in-law for the past 18 years. She served the Lord alongside her husband for almost 61 years until He took Bob home to heaven in 2018.
Echo loved her work with church children’s programs, being a pastor’s wife, and supporting missionary friends around the world. She enjoyed reading and encouraging others.
Echo is survived by her daughter, Nance Davis; son-in-law, Peter V. Smith; her sister, Jeaneen Smith; as well as many nieces, nephews, and their children, whom she dearly loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five sisters; and one brother.
A Memorial Celebration of Echo’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on her 100th birthday, Sunday, October 9, 2022 at the Grand Haven Gospel Chapel with Pastor Ken Shady officiating. Interment will take place the following day at Robinson Township Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Echo’s memory to: Grace Gospel Fellowship or Grand Haven Gospel Chapel.
