Dr. James R. Little, age 55 of Nunica, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital. He was born on October 13, 1967 in Dearborn, MI to the late Dr. Robert and Barbara (Farrell) Little.
Jim graduated from Andover High School in Bloomfield Hills, MI, where he played football on the school’s football team. He then attended University of Chicago, where he double majored in Biology and Biochemistry and was an All American Football player. Jim went on to receive his Medical Doctor degree from the University of Chicago, Division of Biological Sciences, Pritzker School of Medicine in 1994. He specialized in Internal Medicine and had a busy private practice and was affiliated with the Beaumont Hospital system.
Jim enjoyed traveling, especially to Canada to visit family. Most important to him in his life was his family. He was a loving, proud, and very involved father who religiously attended his sons’ basketball games and Crew Rowing competitions, and his daughters’ cheerleading practices.
Jim will be lovingly remembered and missed by his daughter, Romie Little of Spring Lake; and two sons, James Little of Spring Lake and Jaron Little of Spring Lake; sister, Dr. Susan (Gary) Little-Jones; brothers, Richard (Tania) Little and John (Lainia) Little; half-sister, Susan Carter; and his nieces and nephews: Alyssa, Lia, Isabella, Sophia, Lucas, Nicky, Ashley, and Demetri.
He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Little.
There are many words to describe how we see our father: accomplished, wise, selfless, humble, dedicated, hilarious, amazing and—most importantly—loved. We could list hundreds of memories about our dad being kind, goofy, or dependable. However, the unifying trait from all of these stories is the overwhelming love we had for each other. Even though our time with our father was cut short, we are nothing but thankful to have spent those precious years with him. We could not have had a better father, and he will be missed.
The Memorial Service for Jim will take place in Bloomfield, MI, at a later date to be announced.
