Douglas Robert Williams, age 79, of Grand Haven, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Holland Hospital. He was born on December 8, 1945, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI, to the late Robert and Della (Hodge) Williams. Doug married Wallene Cushman on May 19, 1979, in Ensley Center, MI.
Doug graduated from Henry Ford High School, Class of 1965. He then graduated from Michigan Technological University with his bachelor's degree in business, finishing his academic career with his MBA degree from Michigan State University.
Doug began his working career at Kimberly Clark and Scott Paper Co. He later moved on to S.D. Warren Company, Michigan Plastics, Grand Haven Stamped Products, and JSJ Corporation. Over the course of his 40-plus year career, he worked as a corporate planner, computer system support, database manager, and then as an IT manager before his retirement.
Doug was a longtime member of All Shores Wesleyan Church in Spring Lake. He enjoyed wood carving, camping, dogs, traveling, skiing, fishing, and family time. Doug also enjoyed going to the beach and watching sunsets, walking the Pier, watching the news, working with computers, and gardening. He especially enjoyed spending time with grand-kids and family.
Doug loved his time skiing in Austria, the Alps, and going on an anniversary trip with Wallene to England and Scotland. Throughout the years, he also spent a lot of his time volunteering at Love in Christ, coaching Junior Achievement, serving as a Boy Scout leader, and coaching kids in soccer and baseball.
Doug will be forever remembered and missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Wallene; his three children: Carrie (Josh) Danek, Robert (Laura Watson) Williams, and Phillip Williams; and his two grandchildren, Alyssa and Noah Danek.
The Memorial Service for Doug will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Thad Spring officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
