Douglas (Joslin) Sabin Obituary

Douglas Arthur (Joslin) Sabin, age 73, of Grand Haven, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital. He was born on September 22, 1950, in Grand Rapids, MI, to the late Arthur and Carol (Ewing) Joslin.

Doug graduated from Grand Haven High School and then proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps from 1970 to 1972, during the Vietnam War Era. He was very active with the Grand Haven V.F.W., Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post 2326 and the Marine Corp League in Holland. Doug was also a Martial Arts Master and teacher for many years.

Doug enjoyed traveling and camping all over Michigan's Upper Peninsula and into Canada around Lake Superior with his truck camper, reading and collecting books, antiquing, playing in the VFW Cribbage tournaments, and he especially loved going to the beach. Every Spring, he looked forward to the Oceana County asparagus harvest and eating it steamed with sharp cheddar cheese melted on it!

Doug will be forever remembered and missed by his daughter, Rebecca Sabin; 1 grandchild; close friends: John Brooks, Jan Sexton, Rachel Pelton, and Tim Roberts; his beloved dog, Max; and his brothers-in-arms at the V.F.W.

A Celebration of Life for Doug will be held at the V.F.W. Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post 2326. Date to be announced.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the V.F.W. Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post 2326.
