Dorothy Joan (King) Ruiter

Dorothy Joan Ruiter, age 80, of Spring Lake, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Trinity Health Grand Haven Hospital. She was born on April 13, 1944, in Grand Haven, MI, to Fred and Rena (Roberts) King. Dorothy married Ken Ruiter on February 11, 1961.

Dorothy grew up in Grand Haven and graduated from Spring Lake High School. She was a long-time member of Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church and spent her career as an employee and assistant manager of Ottawa County School Employees Credit Union for many years.

Dorothy enjoyed warm weather, going to the beach, and being out in the sun. She also loved to fish and play cards and board games.

Dorothy will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 64 years, Ken; her daughter, Teresa (Gus) Koufonikos; three grandchildren: Candice (Richard) Tease, Chris (Ashley) DeYoung, and Tom (Amanda) DeYoung; seven great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Jane Nelson; and several siblings-in-law.

In accordance with Dorothy's wishes, no services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association-Michigan Chapter.
