Doris Jane (Tierman) Pitcher

Doris J. Pitcher, age 97, of Grand Haven, passed away at home on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born on October 9, 1927, in Muskegon, MI, to the late Louis and Ruth (Gauld) Tierman. Doris married Gerald B. Pitcher on June 29, 1945, in Muskegon. He preceded her in death on October 19, 2010, after 65 years of marriage.

Doris graduated from Muskegon High School and worked as a bookkeeper, pearl-stringer, and assistant to the owner at Grand Haven Jewelry for many years. She traveled all over the world, with Gerald occasionally joining her, and they spent many winters in Florida and Arizona. Doris especially enjoyed shopping and spending time with her daughter and grandchildren.

Doris is lovingly remembered and missed by her three children: Dan (Janet) Pitcher, Steve (Patti) Pitcher, Karen (Rick) Bol; son-in-law, Mark Lowe; grandchildren: Nathan and Nicholas Bol, Jordan, Danae, and Lydia Pitcher, Kendra Bratherton, Tara, Megan, and Anika Pitcher; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald; daughter, Linda Lowe; son, Michael Pitcher; two grandchildren: Eric Bol and Kirt Bratherton; and her sister, Maxine Gelb.

The Funeral Service for Doris will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025, at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Aaron Vergin officiating. Visitation will be held the evening prior, on Sunday, September 28th, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Interment will be at Grand Haven Township Lakeshore Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or Trinity Health at Home Hospice-Grand Haven.
