Doris Catherine (Zeratsky) Fritz

Doris Catherine Fritz, age 95, of Grand Haven, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Lakeshore Assisted Living, Simarron. She was born on December 29, 1928, in Marinette, WI, to the late Wesley and Mary (Hemr) Zeratsky. Doris married Ronald Fritz on June 24, 1950, in Marquette, Michigan. He preceded her in death in December of 2001, after 51 years of marriage.

Doris graduated from Menominee High School, and later, St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Marquette, where she received her Registered Nurse license. She worked as an RN for several hospitals throughout her career, including Butterworth Hospital, Greenville Memorial Hospital, Gerber Memorial Hospital, and Cheboygan Hospital. She concluded her career as House Supervisor, retiring from North Ottawa Community Hospital (Grand Haven) after 20 plus years.

Over the years, Doris and Ron enjoyed camping, going to the beach, long walks, family get-togethers, backyard pool time, taking many vacations around the country, and providing higher education for their children. She loved watching and listening to the birds in her backyard. Doris enjoyed watching sports, especially her grandkids’ various sports games, and was a Green Bay Packers, U of M, and MSU Spartan fan. She loved going to the casinos with friends and family.  Doris’ family was most important to her, and she took every opportunity to spend time with them, especially her grandchildren.

Doris will be lovingly remembered and missed by her two daughters, Debra (Renato) Robles and Diane Temple; her son, Dr. Jeffrey (Tammy) Fritz; five grandchildren: Kam (Heather) Robles, Jonathan (Cody) Shafer-Fritz, Preston (Eliza Smyka) Fritz, Duncan Fritz and Mason Fritz; and several nieces and nephews who have kept in close contact with her through the years.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, David Temple; three brothers: Robert, Thomas and Richard Zeratsky; and five siblings-in-law.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.
