Donna May Kooiman, age 89 of Grand Haven, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Christian Haven Home. She was born on January 19, 1935, in Muskegon, MI, to the late George and Georgia (Wade) Juhnke. Donna was married to Henry “Hank” Kooiman, and he preceded her in death on January 21, 1994.
Donna graduated from Muskegon Heights High School and went on to work as an Administrative Assistant in the medical records department for Internal Medical Associates, which she did until her retirement. Prior to this, she worked for a few years in the library at Mary A. White Elementary School.
Donna attended the former Berean Church of Norton Shores (Anchor Point Bible Church) for many years, where she was active in the choir. She was also a former member of First Reformed Church in Grand Haven.
Donna enjoyed spending time with family and volunteering for the Grace Youth Camp and Teen Missions at her church. She also enjoyed spending some of the winter months in Florida in her retirement years.
Donna will be lovingly remembered and missed by her three children who survive her: Marva (Phil) Ringelberg, Kirk (Chari) Kooiman, and Jon (Tami) Kooiman; her nine grandchildren; and her daughter-in-law, Lynda Kooiman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hank; her son, Dennis Kooiman (2021); and grandson, Joseph E. Kooiman (2022).
A private family graveside service for Donna will be held at Lake Forest Cemetery.
