Donald Paul Carney, age 80 of West Olive, passed away at home on Sunday, August 30, 2020. He was born on December 13, 1939 in Plymouth, MI to the late Elmore and Winifred (Drapper) Carney. Don married Julianne Watters on August 21, 1999 in Spring Lake.
Don proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1962 to 1968. He worked as an Engineer for many years after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University. Don was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. in Florida. He was a great swimmer in high school and went on to swim at Western Michigan University, where he won several medals. Don loved cooking and was a great cook; he liked cooking for his friends and family often. Don enjoyed repairing flat-screen televisions and collected a number of different things. If you ever needed a part or a tool, Don always had it.
Donald will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 21 years, Julianne; step-daughters, Cindy Herman, Deb Otulakowsky, Sherry Coirer, and Teri Hallada; step-sons, Terry Maxwell and Gary Smith; several grandchildren; brother, James (Jan) Carney; brothers-in-law, Greg (Renate) Watters and Brian (Cindy) Watters; sisters-in-law, Anne Watters and Laurie Jenkinson; nephew, Brian Carney, and niece, Trisha Carney.
A Memorial Service for Don will be held at a later date to be announced.
