Donald Chester Worth, age 75 of Spring Lake, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at home. He was born on June 25, 1947 in Hart, MI to the late Chester and Freda (Forbes) Worth. Donald married Jera Drent on August 9, 2014 in Spring Lake.
Donald graduated from Hart High School in 1965, and worked as a mobile home park manager for 30 years before his retirement, and then worked as a maintenance supervisor at a local nursing home. He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1966 to 1968, during the Vietnam War. Donald was often ordered to clear the tunnels of Cu Chi during his tour. He earned a Bronze Star and Purple Heart while serving.
Donald was a long-time member of the American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post 28 and he enjoyed wood-working, fishing, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and traveling up north to Mears and Ludington. Donald also loved going to breakfast with friends to the Rendezvous and Idle Hour. He especially liked to take care of his yard and spend time with his dog, Dutchess.
Donald will be remembered and missed by his beloved wife, Jera; his two daughters, Melissa (Jeffery) Sterken and Kelly (Angelo) Scaffido; his son, Donald (Staci) Worth; step-daughters, Danielle (Steven) Bolthouse and Suzanne (David) Drent-Elnick; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and the mother of his children, Mary Worth.
He was preceded in death by his five sisters: Gladys, Dolly, Bonnie Jean, Judy, and Viola.
The Funeral Service with Full Military Honors for Donald will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Bytwerk officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Spring Lake Township Cemetery.
