Diane J. (Frietchen) Van Dongen

Diane J. Van Dongen, age 76 of Zeeland, MI, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at a local care facility. She was born on July 27, 1944 in Grand Haven, MI to the late John and Margaret (Clausen) Frietchen. Diane married Gary S. Van Dongen on September 2, 1967 in Grand Haven, MI.

Diane was a life-long West Michigan native who enjoyed growing up and living along the lakeshore. She worked for Herpolsheimer’s and Michigan Plastics for several years. Diane was a member of AARP and loved to golf, read, and work on needlepoint projects.

Diane will be remembered and missed by her husband of 53 years, Gary; and her brothers-in-law, Gene (Barb) Van Dongen; Jim (Deb) Van Dongen; Chuck (Dawn) Van Dongen; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters and their husbands, Arlene (Dick) Kuhlman, Phyllis (George) Maierhauser, and Sharon (John) Van De Weg; sister-in-law, Dolores Van Dongen; and brother-in-law, Wayne (Charlene) Van Dongen.

Private family services will be held. Interment will take place at Grand Haven Township Lakeshore Cemetery.
