Dennis Lee Rice

Dennis Lee Rice, age 70, of Grand Haven, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at home, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 24, 1953, in Grand Haven, MI, to the late William and Elinor (Sjoerdsma) Rice. Dennis married Kathy Frietchen on November 1, 1980, in Grand Haven.

Dennis graduated from Grand Haven High School and went on to do work restoring cars. In 1972, he began work at Dake Corp., where he worked for 52 years before his retirement. He was a member of Second Reformed Church and enjoyed working on projects around his home, playing with his grandkids, and watching NASCAR on television.

Dennis will be remembered and missed by his wife of almost 44 years, Kathy; his three daughters: Sara (Tim) Pokorski and their children, Carter and Taylor; Carissa (Scott) Hilton and their children: Emily, Angelina, and Cheyenne; Heather (Ben) Draper and their children: Liam, Kealyn, Brennen, and Izaiah; his son, Dan Rice (Shannon Carington) and their children: Elinor, Ana, and Zach; grandson, Ian Rice, who was like a son to him; sisters, Linda (John) Riepma and Alison (Kurt) Kossuth; brother, Scott (Kristi) Rice; sisters-in-law, Gigi (Tony) Green and Bonnie (Bryan) Swiftney; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Graveside Service for Dennis will take place at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Lake Forest Cemetery, with Pastor Mike VanKampen officiating.

Memorial Contributions may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.
