Debra Marie (McCarthy) Smith

Debra Marie Smith, age 64 of Grand Haven, passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Mercy Hospital.  She was born on December 6, 1956 in Grand Haven, MI to Patrick and Joanne (Khodl) McCarthy.  Debra graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1975.

Deb enjoyed spending winters in Florida with her parents. She was an avid knitter and donated many of her creations to benefit others.  She took pleasure in playing bingo and solitaire, watching television and singing along to her favorite music.  She loved the countless hours of conversation with friends and family.

Debra is lovingly remembered and missed by her son, Richard Smith (fiancé Piroska Nadeau); granddaughter, Kayla; her mother Joanne McCarthy; two sisters, Lisa Gullick and Kathleen (Paul) Zinger; three brothers, Thomas (Pamela) McCarthy, Kenneth (Caroline) McCarthy, and Timothy McCarthy; and many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Patrick McCarthy. 

The Memorial Mass for Debra will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at St. Patrick-St. Anthony’s Catholic Parish with Fr. Charles Schwartz officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.
