Dawn April TenBrink, age 63 of Grand Haven, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. She was born on February 3, 1958 in Muskegon, MI to the late Marvin and Edith (Cross-DeYoung) Huss. She married David TenBrink on January 9, 1999 in Nunica, MI and he preceded her in death on June 12, 2010.
Dawn graduated from Fruitport High School and went on to work for Grand Haven Brass from 1988 to 2002. She then worked as a bartender at Stan’s Bar in Spring Lake for many years, and was a familiar face in the Village. Dawn was a member of the V.F.W. Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post 2326, Grand Haven and the Grand Haven Eagles Auxiliary. She bowled for many years, and enjoyed watching NASCAR. She will be fondly remembered and missed by so many people who knew her.
Dawn is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Jason) Slingerland of Scotts, MI; her son, Richard Boswell of Spring Lake, MI; step-daughter, Vicki (James) Szymas of Grand Haven: step-son Greg TenBrink of Marquette, MI; her six beloved grandchildren: Josiah, Laurel, Mason, Zachary (Sarah) Tardani, and Jory & Wyatt Szymas; two sisters, Donna (Michael) Whitcomb of Schoolcraft, MI and Denise McMillan of Spring Lake, MI; and her close friend, Tonya Dykstra. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave; her brother, Rick Huss; and step-father, Gerald DeYoung.
A Celebration of Life for Dawn will take place on Sunday, August 15, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Pincrest Bar & Lanes (6571 Airline Rd, Fruitport Charter Twp, MI 49415).
Interment will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Fruitport .
