David Carl Evans, Sr.

David Carl Evans, Sr., a longtime Grand Haven resident who was known for his photography and who enjoyed long, quiet walks through the scenic parks in Ottawa County to connect with nature, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. He was born on February 2, 1943, in Grand Rapids, MI, to the late Carl and Evelyn (Pechumer) Evans. David married Diane B. Saunders on April 4, 1964, in Grand Rapids and was devoted for 50 years. She preceded him in death on February 5, 2015, after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease.

David loved his family and friends and was always willing to lend a hand when somebody was in need. He graduated from high school and worked as a purchasing agent for Lorin Industries in Muskegon for 28 years before his retirement. He later worked in the deli at the Grand Haven Meijer store and as a driver for Harbor Transit.

David was a member of Lighthouse Christian Ministries for many years and enjoyed his long walks, riding his motorcycle, music, and photography. He was the owner of David C. Evans Photography.

David will be forever remembered and missed by his son, David Evans, Jr.; and his daughter, Rebecca (Mark) Sanchez; his four grandchildren: Alex Evans, Madeline and Lee Sanchez, and Janis Evans; special friend, Paula Day; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Diana (Merl) Elder and Debra (Ron) Malone; and his brother, Dennis (Joanne) Evans. He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane in 2015; and his son, Randy "Earl" Evans in 2005.

A Memorial Visitation for David will be held on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, (1500 Robbins Rd, Grand Haven). The family will host a celebration of life at a later date. Interment will take place at Lake Forest Cemetery.
