David Peter Bush, age 90, of Fort Smith, Arkansas (formerly, Grand Haven), passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 in Arkansas. He was born on March 25, 1934, in Muskegon, MI, to the late Peter and Elsie (Olthof) Bush.
David graduated from Grand Haven High School and married Ruth A. Bloom on November 28, 1952, in Grand Haven. She preceded him in death on December 3, 2023, after 71 years of marriage. David proudly served his country in the US Army from 1954 to 1956, during the Korean Conflict Era. He worked as a sheet metal journeyman for Rycenga Homes and then Bastian Blessing Co. for 22 years until his retirement.
David was a member of the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post 28, former member and former deacon of Second Reformed Church, former Chaplain of Holy Way Presbyterian Church in Tucson, Arizona, and former Chaplain of the Grand Haven Area Jaycee's. He was also a former member of the PR Committee in Tucson Estates.
David was an avid sports fan who loved to play golf in his men's golf league in Tucson, and he especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
David will be forever remembered and missed by his daughter, Barbara (Steven) Huisman of Fort Smith, AR; two grandsons, Matthew and Nicholas (Lacey) Huisman, also of Fort Smith; brothers-in-law, Ronald (Bonnie) Bloom and Steven Dornbos; nieces, Charlene (William) Holmes, Lori (Scott) Beck, and Emily O'Hearn; and nephews, David Bard and Doug Bloom; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth; sister and brother-in-law, Gladys & Charles Bard; nephew, Tom Bloom; and mother-in-law, Genevieve Weber.
A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at Lake Forest Cemetery.
