Darlene Ann Glockzin, age 84, of Grand Haven, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, in Grand Rapids, surrounded by her family. She was born on September 6, 1939, in Muskegon, MI, to Kenneth and Eleanor (Gleason) Demmon. Darlene married the love of her life, Kenneth Glockzin, on September 17, 1960, in Muskegon. He preceded her in death on August 23, 2013 after 53 years of marriage.
Darlene graduated from Walkerville High School and went on to Muskegon Business School, where she received her bank teller certification. She started her career working as a teller for The People’s Bank, Grand Haven, and later, retired from Grand Haven Bank.
She was a member of United Methodist Church of the Dunes for many years and served as former volunteer for North Ottawa Community Hospital. She enjoyed reading, camping, and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Darlene will always be remembered and missed by her daughter, Tammy Glockzin (significant other, Ben Whitfield) of Ludington; her son, Todd Glockzin of Grand Haven; four grandchildren: Shelby (Todd) Herber, Shae (Julian) Barnes, and Hunter and Andrew Glockzin; sister-in-law, Dianne Pasco; brothers-in-law: Robert and Fred (Bobbie) Glockzin, Al (Linda) Wildey, and Theron Westerlund; niece, Donna Glockzin; close friend, Terri Lambert; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ken; and siblings-in-law: Margaret Westerlund, Paul Pasco, and Louis (Virginia) Glockzin, Jr.
The Memorial Service for Darlene will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2024, at United Methodist Church of the Dunes, with Pastor Eldon Eldred officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 21st, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Interment will be at Grand Haven Township Historic Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Trinity Health at Home Hospice-Grand Haven or United Methodist Church of the Dunes.
