Daniel McWilliams Obituary

Daniel "Dan" Abe McWilliams, age 71, of Grand Haven, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Dogwood Shores Assisted Living in Spring Lake, MI. He was born on March 30, 1955, in Grand Haven, MI, to the late Lyle and Marjorie (Broton) McWilliams. Dan married Cynthia "Cindy" Gray on April 9, 1983, in Grand Haven, and they cherished 39 years of marriage before her unexpected passing in 2022.

Dan graduated from Grand Haven High School and went on to earn his master's degree from Western Michigan University. He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed spending time snow-skiing, camping, golfing, and had a love for building and wood-working. Dan was also an avid fan of the Detroit Lions and rarely missed watching high school or college football games. He was known as a true people-person who never met a stranger and genuinely enjoyed spending time with others. Above all, Dan cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.

Dan will be forever remembered and missed by his daughter, Amey McWilliams; and son, Mitchell (Elizabeth) McWilliams; two grandchildren, August McWilliams and Winifred McWilliams; sisters-in-law: Jane (Timothy) Bennett, Laura (Thomas) Berg, and Sara (William) Collins; brothers-in-law: Jeff Gray, Chet Babcock, Maynard Garner; as well as several nieces and nephews.\

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cindy; two sisters, Darlene Babcock and Judy Garner; brother, Donald McWilliams; his parents-in-law, Joan and Glen Gray; brother-in-law, Glen Gray; sister-in-law, Marie Gray; and two nephews, Nathan and Adam Bennett.
