Cornelius “Neil” Anton Louis, age 81 of Grand Haven, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at a local care facility. He was born on July 4, 1940 in Warrensville Heights, OH to the late Cornelius and Hendrika (Bosch) Louis.
After his graduation from High School, Neil went on to proudly serve his country in the US Navy. Upon his discharge from the Navy, he met and later married Nancy Jean Smith on July 21, 1968 in Warrensville Heights. She preceded him in death on December 20, 2019 after 51 years of marriage.
Neil worked for Shaw Walker in Muskegon for several years before his retirement. He was a long-time member of the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post 28, and enjoyed attending Mustang car shows and parades, and collecting model cars and mini-trucks. Neil was also a huge Notre Dame Football and Basketball fan, and loved to collect Notre Dame Memorabilia.
Neil is remembered and missed by his daughter, Dawn (Jim) Hornak of Grand Haven; his three granddaughters, Mackenzie, Madison, and Mariah Hornak; his sister, Linda (Ben) Chapman; sister-in-law, Mary Kay Olson; and brother-in-law, Albert Smith.
He was preceded in death by his wife; and three brothers, Ray, Bob, and Ralph Louis.
The Memorial Service for Neil will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Trinity Reformed Church with Pastor Randy Bremmer officiating. Full Military Honors to be performed by the American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post 28. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
