Corey Allen Worman, from Grand Haven, Michigan, found his eternal rest on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at the age of 37.
He was patient, kind and gentle, and was a beautiful light in the lives of anyone lucky enough to know him, even though the light flickered at times. Corey was raised in Leslie, Michigan, where he loved spending time with his small group of close friends. He thrived in musical theater, including a standout performance as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof.
Corey was a proud graduate of the University of Alabama, where he attended zero football games and studied psychology and philosophy at New College, earning a well-deserved degree with the support of his academic mentor, Jeff Manthei of Leslie, Michigan.
Corey also traveled extensively, including trips to Asia, studies in New Orleans, and work out West in Wyoming and California. But his favorite place was home in Michigan, where he settled with his parents after returning from California.
Corey’s last years were some of his best. He began to find meaning in his work with Cheryl Kaletka at Fellinlove Farm in Holland, Michigan, and later, discovered real purpose working at Habitat for Humanity in Grand Haven with the guidance and encouragement of Arlan Meekhof.
He found respite at the YMCA of Grand Haven where he felt valued and respected, as well as at Hemlock Crossing, where he loved to walk and reflect along the banks of the Pigeon River.
Corey’s last day had its bright spots too, including Mass at St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish, brunch with his parents, and more quality time with his parents at Hemlock Crossing. So, while his family mourns his death, they also take comfort in the peace and serenity Corey knew during the final period of this life.
Corey is survived by his best friend and mother, Mary; as well as his father, Gary; sister, Rachel; and brother, Kelly; in addition to nieces: Kyla, Madison, Hadley, Millie and Mary Ruth; and nephew, Bailey.
He was loved beyond measure and will be deeply missed forever.
Private family services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Corey’s memory to Tri-Cities Habitat for Humanity, (600 S. Beacon Blvd. Suite C, Grand Haven, MI 49417). Or better yet, Corey would want you to hug those you love and help your neighbors.
