Constance “Connie” D. Wheeler, age 83, of Grand Haven, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Zeeland Community Hospital. She was born on December 12, 1940, in Livonia, MI, to the late Jess and Dorothy (Gnatkowski) Hammersley.
Connie graduated from Livonia High School where she was a cheerleader. She attended Michigan State University, where she married and played on the Field Hockey team. Connie worked as a designer and salesperson of marine vinyl interiors, traveling extensively during her working years.
She enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking, diamond-dot painting, and gardening. She also loved boating and spending time at the water with family. Connie was a true family-woman who was very involved in and loved everything to do with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Connie will be lovingly remembered and missed by her two daughters, Lynn Prouty (Mark VanStrien), and Michelle (Timothy) Rick; her son, Jeff Wheeler; daughter-in-law, Lisa Wheeler; seven grandchildren, Benjamin (Alison) Prouty, Jennifer (Mike) Rosso, Macaire (Michael) Heyblom, Katie Wheeler, Trevor Wheeler, Morgan Rick and Madison Rick; three great-grandchildren, Peyton Rosso, Madeline Heyblom, and Weston Rosso; one niece and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bradley Wheeler; and her brother, Richard Hammersley.
Private family services for Connie will take place on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Doug Bytwerk officiating. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.
