Clifford Drent Obituary

Clifford “Kip” Eugene Drent, age 80, of Grand Haven, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at a local care facility in Holland. He was born on June 28, 1944, in Grand Haven, Michigan, to the late Clifford H. and Ruth M. (Nichols) Drent.

Kip graduated from Grand Haven High School, where he played on the Football team.

He went on to proudly serve his country in the US Army from 1974 to 1977, during the Vietnam War Era. He was a proud member of the American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post 28, and enjoyed his time at Four-Pointes in Grand Haven. He worked as a State Trooper for the Michigan State Police and retired as a sales representative.

Kip loved watching Detroit Lions and U of M Football and Detroit Tigers Baseball. He was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, traveling, and keeping up with the news.

Kip will be lovingly remembered and missed by his daughter, Shannon (Rob) Drent-Vizithum; two sons, Brian (Michelle) Drent and Brad Drent; seven grandchildren: Tyler, Jillian, Brandon, Emersyn (Luke), Taytam, Jarod, and Meryn; three great-grandchildren: Arianna, Tinsley, and Grayson; his sister, Debbie (Stan) Suszka; and sister-in-law, Jera Worth.

He was preceded in death by his brother, William Drent.

The Memorial Service for Kip will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Chaplain Gary Doublestein officiating. Full Military Honors to be performed by the American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post 28.
