Clayton “Clay” McCastle age 83, of Grand Haven, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2024, at home surrounded by family. He was born on October 20, 1940, in Blue Lake Township, MI, to the late Clifford and Edith (Brett) McCastle. Clay married Royce Brugger on June 16, 1964, in Reed City, MI.
Clay graduated from Fremont High School and then enlisted in the US Air Force, where he proudly served our country for six years. Upon his discharge from the service, he worked for Gardner Denver-Cooper for 17 years and later retired from Consumers Energy after 23 years of service.
He was a member of the American Legion Charles A. Conklin Post 28 and was a Master Gardener who loved spending time in his extensive garden which was viewed and enjoyed by many. He also loved to go fishing and camping.
Clay will be remembered and missed by many, including his beloved wife of 59 years, Royce; and their two children, Tim (Sheryll) McCastle and Denise (Terry) Tyler; five grandchildren: Grant, Lilli, and Sydney McCastle, Brianne and Zachary Tyler; and sister, Judy Edmonds.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
