Charlotte (Barker) Morrison, age 72 of Grand Haven, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Mercy Hospital. She was born on November 29, 1948 in Eatonton, Georgia to the late Clive and Vera (Little) Barker. Charlotte married Michael “Mike” Morrison on March 20, 1971 in Eatonton, GA.
Charlotte graduated from Putnam Co. High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in education from Georgia College. She worked as a teacher for several years before becoming a stay-at-home mom for their two children and was active in the bell-choir at United Methodist Church of the Dunes for many years.
Charlotte had an interest in family genealogy and traced her roots back to Cartmel, England, and even traveled there to meet her family members. She was very craft-oriented and an exceptional seamstress who not only sewed, but also did cross-stitch and embroidery work, often customizing all the clothing for Mike and the kids. Charlotte was a master gardener, attending extra classes at MSU to obtain her certification. She took great pride in her yard and flower gardens and was known for her attention to detail and beautiful landscaping.
Charlotte will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 50 years, Michael Morrison of Grand Haven; her daughter, Cynthia (Joseph) Ganz of Columbia, MO; her son, Jay (Maggie) Morrison of Comstock Park, MI; her two grandchildren, Ridley and Auden; mother-in-law, June Morrison of Lexington, KY; brother, Douglas Barker of Georgia; her special aunt, Kathryn Bollinger of Georgia; her brother-in-law, Jeff (Cindy) Morrison; and two nieces.
The Funeral Service for Charlotte will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor Eldon Eldred officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service. Masks and Social Distancing will be required. Interment will take place at Grand Haven Township Lakeshore Cemetery.
