Obituary

Charleene Ann Cooper, age 81 of Grand Haven, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at home. She was born on July 23, 1940 in Ludington, MI to the late Charles and Anna (Bentz) Ricklefs.

Charleene worked as a cook for the Ottawa County Youth Home for over 18 years, retiring in 2001 to help care for her grandchildren. She enjoyed working in her yard, shopping, and going thrifting at Goodwill, Thrift Shops, and garage sales. Charleene also loved playing bingo, going to casinos, and caring for her beloved “Babe” (aka “Max) and many other past fur babies.

Charleene is lovingly remembered and missed by her two daughters, Holly Nelson of Grand Rapids, and Heather (Ed) VanderPloeg of Fountain, MI; grandchildren, Hannah and Hailey VanderPloeg, Brad (Christi) Wiebenga, Jeremy (Kaci) Wiebenga, and Tyler (Megan) Wiebenga; great-grandchildren, Kevin, Kamryn, Grayson, Elliott, Tatum, and Lincoln; former son-in-law, Dale (Jill) Wiebenga; siblings, Sheryl O’Brien and James “Chico” Ricklefs; and sisters-in-law, Kaye and Marie Ricklefs.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gary, Richard, Raymond, and Michael Ricklefs.

Private burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Ludington, MI at a later date.
