Catherine "Cathy" Ann (Lake) Meyers

Catherine Ann Meyers, age 69, of Spring Lake passed away on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Memorial Hermann Medical Center in Houston, Texas, after a brief illness. She was born on December 21, 1954, in Grand Haven, MI, to the late Leo and Catherine (Schaafsma) Lake.

Cathy graduated from Grand Haven High School and obtained her Associate’s degree from Muskegon Community College. On September 14, 1974, she married Greg Meyers at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Grand Haven.

Cathy thoroughly enjoyed her professional life and took pride in her accomplishments throughout her career. She began her career at Security First Bank and Trust North and earned positions at Ottawa Community Credit Union and Michigan Organic Resources. Most recently, she worked as treasurer and office manager for Andy Mast Greenhouses and retired in January, after over 20 years of service.

Throughout their almost 50 years of marriage, Cathy worked in tandem with her husband, Greg, renovating, constructing, and designing their several homes. Cathy was an excellent hostess, providing lively and memorable times at yearly holiday, family, and Coast Guard Festival celebrations.

She loved listening to music, sewing, playing Euchre, reading mystery books, and watching movies and solving jigsaw puzzles with her only granddaughter. One of her greatest pleasures in life was riding on the back of Greg's Harley, as well as touring the West Coast of Michigan in their Mustang convertible. She looked forward to every opportunity to socialize with friends at the American Legion Post 28. Having a fondness for shelties, she rescued several over the years.

Cathy and Greg traveled extensively on cruises to the Caribbean, and this past year, Alaska. Most recently, Cathy and Greg spent their first winter months in Texas together in their fifth-wheel RV near her sister and her sister's husband.

Cathy is survived by her loving husband, Greg; and their daughter, Corrie (Daniel) Meyers-Gunsberg; granddaughter, Vaileri Gunsberg; brothers: David (Carole) Lake, Carl (Carol) Lake, and Tom (Kathy) Lake; sister, Jan (Tony) Barber; and brother-in-law, Terry (Verna) Meyers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Vicki (Larry) Bowes.

The Memorial Celebration of Life for Cathy will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Bytwerk officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15th, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial Contributions in memory of Cathy may be made to the Harbor Humane Society.
