Carolyn Anne Boersma, age 65, of West Olive, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at home after a brief illness. She was born on February 15, 1958 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Louis and Helen (Delezynski) Schoeb. Carolyn married Joseph F. Boersma in 1983 in Grand Haven, and they enjoyed 40 years of marriage.
Carolyn graduated from Bishop Borgess High School, and then earned her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University. She spent 40 years working as an Occupational Therapist at both Hackley and Mercy Hospitals, prior to them becoming Spectrum Health.
Carolyn liked to be active, and enjoyed being outdoors. She served as a Volunteer Coordinator for the U.S. Junior Windsurfing Association, and was also a former Girl Scout Leader. Carolyn enjoyed snow-skiing in her younger years, reading, and more recently, spending time sewing and quilting. She was a good cook and enjoyed gathering with friends and family. She also spent a lot of time with her horses, and would often go on short trail rides.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Joe; and their two children, Molly (Michael) McClure and Mark Boersma; twin sister, Sharon (Mark) Konieczny; and siblings, Victoria (Thomas) Nystrom and Gerard (Sandra) Schoeb; and several nieces and nephews.
A private family Graveside Service for Carolyn will take place at Port Sheldon Twp. Cemetery.
