Caroline (Puleo) McFadden

Caroline McFadden, age 92 of Grand Haven, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Lakeshore Assisted Living-Simmaron. She was born on April 16, 1931 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Joseph and Mary (Smith) Puleo. Caroline married Terrance McFadden on August 26, 1950 in Grand Haven. He preceded her in death in 2001.

Caroline graduated from high school and went on to work at Challenge Machinery, Kent Products, and Donnelly Corp. She was a member of St. Patrick - St. Anthony’s Catholic Parish and enjoyed reading, baking, crocheting, and playing dominoes at the clubhouse.

In her younger years, Caroline bowled weekly on a bowling league at Starlite Lanes in Grand Haven. She loved to go shopping and to the casino, but especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many close friends.

Caroline is lovingly remembered and missed by her three daughters: Theresa MacKeller, Diane (Thomas) Swifney, and Mary Ann Dupuis; son, Daniel (Kathy) McFadden; 10 grandchildren: Heather and Eileen MacKeller, Matthew (Melinda) McFadden, Cassie (Brad) Motley, Tracy (Josh) Taylor, Thomas (Miranda) Swifney, Jr., Shane Swifney (special friend, Amanda), Ann Marie Swifney, Natalie and Brigitte Dupuis; nine great-grandchildren: Adam MacKeller, Chase and Catlin Taylor, Riley and Audrey Swifney, Alina and Juliet Motley, Matthew and Maisy McFadden; sisters-in-law, Joan Mead, Patricia McFadden, Trudy Puleo, and Geraldine Holzinger; many nieces and nephews; and special niece and Godchild, Lorraine King.

She was preceded in death by her husband; infant daughter, Eileen; sisters, Rose (Larry) Mitchell and Delores (Lamar) Barger; her brother, Thomas Puleo; son-in-law, John Dupuis; parents-in-law, Colonel V.J. and Irene McFadden; sister-in-law, Joyce McFadden; and brother-in-law, Emery Holzinger.

The Memorial Mass for Caroline will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at St. Patrick - St. Anthony’s Catholic Parish with Fr. Dan Schumaker officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 1st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with the Rosary recited at 7:30. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.
