Beverly Jean (Allen) Burlingame

Beverly "Bev" Jean Burlingame, age 86, of Grand Haven, passed away at home on Friday, November 15, 2024. She was born on March 23, 1938, in East Liverpool, OH, to the late Paul and Gladys (Burford) Allen. Bev married Earl Burlingame on June 11, 1960, in East Liverpool, OH. He preceded her in death after 35 years of marriage. Together, they had one son, Brian Allen Burlingame of Phoenix, AZ.

Bev never knew a stranger. Most of her adult life was spent as a Stephen's Minister. She loved life, she loved people, and she was known for being a great listener. She also had a passion for cultural differences. As a child, the Masonic Lodge was a big part of her family life. For 68 years, she was a member of Crystal Chapter #1 of the Order of the Eastern Star and had followed the paths of her mother, and paternal grandmother, Daisy Allen.

Bev graduated from Kent State University with her bachelor's and master's degrees in Elementary Education. She taught math in the College of Education and supervised student teachers for three years and was then a fifth-grade teacher at Monroe School in Tallmadge, OH, for eight years. Bev retired from Dynamic Conveyor in 2000.

Bev and her family moved to Michigan in 1970 and made their home in West Olive, where she loved spending summer months at the beach with her Sheldon Dunes neighbors. She enjoyed traveling and spent several winters in Florida, and loved Broadway shows, and always had season tickets. Bev was involved in several groups, including Women's Wisdom for 22 years. Bev enjoyed her retirement years living at The Village at the Pines Senior Community.

She will be remembered and missed by many, many loving friends.

The Memorial Service for Bev will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 29, 2024, at The Village at the Pines Senior Community's third-floor auditorium, with Pastor Kelvin Miller officiating.
