Beatrice "Bea" Wallish Obituary

Beatrice J. “Bea” Wallish, age 88 of Grand Haven, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at her daughters home with family by her side. She was born on April 26, 1932 in Chicago, IL to the late Albert and Lena (Slinkman) Hoekstra. Bea married Edward F. Wallish on October 13, 1948 in Chicago. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1983.

Bea worked at Shore Haven Nursing Center for three years, and then worked for North Ottawa Community Hospital for 20 years in the OB and Home Health Departments before her retirement. She was a member of Trinity Reformed Church and was involved in church choirs, Bible Study Groups, DeColores, and Kid’s Hope. Bea was a former Girl Scout leader and loved Gospel music, bowling, and golf. Bea also loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and friends and she will be remembered for her love to all.

Bea is lovingly remembered and survived by her four daughters, Mary (Robert) Rouwhorst of Grand Haven, Darlene (Phil) VandeVoort of Eldora, IA, Barbara (Rod) Tidd of Spring Lake, Judy (Cor) Damhuis of Nunica; four sons, Edward (Jan) Wallish of Norton Shores, Bill (Diane) Wallish of Silver Spring, MD, Tom (Kelly) Wallish of Grand Haven, Ron (Sue) Wallish of Grand Haven; 33 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jan Cuddington and Kathy (Dale) DeYoung; one brother, Albert (Joyce) Hoekstra; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; and sisters, Bertha Plantenga and Linda Watters.

The Drive-In Funeral Service will be broadcast on low power radio beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2020 at Trinity Reformed Church with Pastor Randy Bremmer officiating. All those attending are required to stay in their vehicles during the service. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.
