Barbara Lynn (Nuismer) Kolkema

Barbara Lynn Kolkema, age 68, of Grand Haven, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at home. She was born on February 15, 1957, in Grand Haven, MI, to the late Jelmer and Maryanne (Donahue) Nuismer. Barb married Steven Kolkema on September 28, 1974. He preceded her in death on April 9, 2005.

Barb graduated from Grand Haven High School. She enjoyed cooking, reading, going antiquing, tending to her flowers, and gardening. She also enjoyed golfing and going on motorcycle rides.

Barb will be lovingly remembered and missed by her two daughters, Amy (Victor) Coletta and Christine (Brian) Erickson; her son, Steve Kolkema; eight grandchildren: Byron, Emma, Eli, Lily, Marlee, Sydney, Allison, and Kira; brother, Mark (Denise) Nuismer; partner of 14 years, Brad Demarest; and one niece and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Laurie Kolkema.

A Celebration of Barb's life will be held at a later date to be announced.
