Barbara Edith Kilbry ("Mom," "Mana," "Bobbie," "Aunt Bah,") age 85 of Spring Lake, entered Heaven on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Robbinswood Assisted Living Center. She was born on July 17, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Oliver and Edith (Hillman) Landreth. In 1965, she married Fred Kilbry and moved to Spring Lake. He preceded her in death on July 11, 2013 after 48 years of marriage.
Barb graduated from Alvernia Catholic High School in Chicago, Illinois and continued her studies at Loyola University and Muskegon Community College. During Barb's career as a highly skilled secretary, she worked for numerous businesses, including: Wilson Sporting Goods, Bastian Blessing, Spring Lake Wesleyan Church, Spring Lake Jr. High, Hope College, and completed her career retiring from Ottawa County Circuit Court.
Barb was an amazing host who loved many types of gatherings in her home. Some of her favorite memories are when family from Chicago would visit. She was a tremendous woman of God, a faithful friend, and an incredible encourager. Barb was determined to raise her boys in the church and actively attended for over 50 years.
Barb was passionate about her family, grandkids and great-grandkids, as well as reading, knitting, and traveling. She loved teaching Sunday school, being a part of World Mission Outreach, and the Chicago Cubs.
Barb is survived by two sons, Fred W. (Jennifer) Kilbry, Jr. and Steven (Joanne) Kilbry; six grandchildren: Andrew (Jeanna) Kilbry, Rachel (Ryan) Hooker, Ben Kilbry, Alicia Kilbry, Sam Kilbry and Emma (Callum) Davies; four great-grandchildren: Kilian Koert, Delilah Pohle, Everett and Luna Hooker; brother, Oliver (Dolores) Landreth; sister-in-law, Patricia Landreth; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; and her brother, John Landreth.
The Memorial Service for Barb will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at All Shores Wesleyan Church (15550 Cleveland Ave., Spring Lake) with Pastor Ralph Baynum officiating. Interment will be at Spring Lake Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
