Anthony Ellis Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, and father, Anthony Scott Ellis, known as "Scott" to many of us, of Ferrysburg, who left us on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the age of 53. He was born on February 27, 1971, in Kalamazoo, MI, to Joseph M. Ellis and Patricia J. (Brye) Barnett.

Scott graduated from high school in California and attended Muskegon Community College for his Electrical Technician Certificate. He was employed doing line clearance and was also a tree climber for Trees Inc. for several years. After that, he worked for the Grand Haven Board of Light and Power for many years.

First and foremost, Scott was a devoted father to his cherished daughter, Zophia, a loving brother, and a beloved son. He had an immense passion for music, playing the guitar with the skill and artistry of a professional. Music was not just a part of his life; it was a means through which he connected with others and expressed his vibrant spirit.

Scott had an adventurous heart and was always eager to experience life to the fullest, particularly when it came to creating precious memories with his daughter, Zophia. Their bond was unbreakable, and the love he had for her was immeasurable.

Scott was known for his incredible social personality, and he had a unique ability to light up any room he entered. His smile and laughter were contagious, bringing joy to those around him. Scott was loved by many for his warmth, kindness, and the genuine connections he fostered throughout his life. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.

Scott is survived by his former spouse, Stacy Ellis, with whom he shared many wonderful memories; along with their daughter, Zophia Ellis; his mother, Patricia Barnett; and father, Joe (Mary) Ellis; his siblings: Jaime Ellis, Jon (Holly) Barnett, Katie (Marty) Eden, and Rebecca Burton; along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death and is reunited with his grandparents, Ida and Nick Ellis, and Fred and Betty Brye; his stepdad, Steven Barnett; and his uncle, Richard Howell.

May Scott rest in peace, forever remembered in our hearts for the love and joy he brought into our lives.

The Memorial Service for Scott will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Taylor officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the spring of 2025 at Spring Lake Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, we kindly request that donations be made to Stacy Ellis (17875 Mohawk Dr., Spring Lake, MI 49456) to support Zophia and her future.
