Obituary

Andrew “Andy” Elwyn Ransom, age 41 of Grand Haven, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at home. He was born on March 25, 1979 in Grand Haven, MI to Douglas Lee Ransom and Carol Ann (Tiefenbach) Mosher.

Andy graduated with Honors from Grand Haven High School, Class of 1999. He was a lifelong resident of Grand Haven, and was a very driven individual who achieved many things in his life. Andy was born with the gift of gab, which carved the path for him to become an accomplished public speaker. He was the Governor of the Area 19 Toastmaster’s, taught Jr. Toastmaster’s, and was awarded toast master of the year for 2009-2010. Andy was very involved with the local schools and colleges and he participated in their speaking engagements often.

Andy served the Lord, teaching Sunday School at Nortonville Gospel Church and was a people person who could relate to others quite well. This made him a perfect fit for camp counselor at his favorite camp which he was a fellow camper at, Trail’s Edge Vent Camp; a camp for children who are ventilator or BiPAP dependent, which Andy experienced firsthand and had lived with for most of his life.

Andy was a funny man who could make people laugh easily. He was a comedian who was always doing comedy skits, and even performed at the B.O.B. in Grand Rapids. He always found the sunshine in life and never let his handicap slow him down; instead, living with his handicap inspired him to do more, which inspired many people. Andy will be remembered by so many whose lives he affected in such a positive way.

The family would like to give a special thank you to St. John’s Healthcare who took such good care of Andy his whole life.

Andy is loved and missed by his parents, Douglas L. Ransom, Sr. and Carol (Dale) Mosher; his brother, D.J Ransom; two step-sisters, Stacey Mosher and Shannon Ledford; step-brother, Nick Mosher; and close friends, Berni Carlson and Lisa Thompson. He was preceded in death by his four grandparents.

A Visitation for friends to meet the family will be on Saturday, May 30, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Private family services will take place at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Lunt officiating. A Celebration of Life for Andy will be held and announced at a later date.
