Alvias “Chris” Alvianell Nichols, age 93 of Grand Haven, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Medilodge at the Shore. She was born on September 13, 1929 in Loretto, Tennessee, to the late Henry and Zula (Glover) Brown. Chris married Earl “Lefty” Nichols, Jr. on August 3, 1946. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2006, after 59 years of marriage.
Chris attended high school in Tennessee, and later in life, attended Muskegon Community College. She had a passion for caring for and helping others which led her to work as a Nurse’s Aide, which she did until her retirement. Chris worked for Shore Haven Nursing Home and Riverside Nursing Home, both in Grand Haven.
She was a regular attendee of Fellowship Bible Church, having previously attended Grand Haven Church of God for many years. Chris enjoyed the company of others, and had especially fond memories of going roller-skating in her younger years.
Chris is lovingly remembered and missed by her two children: daughter, Carolyn (Dean) Knutson of Bear Lake; and her son, Earl (Theresa) Nichols of Seattle, WA; five beloved grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Carol Brown.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and four siblings, Geneva, Jennett, Henry, and Danny.
A Celebration of Life for Chris will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Pinewood Place Community Room, with Pastor Kelvin Miller officiating. Interment will be at Grand Haven Township Historic Cemetery at a later date.
