William "Willie" Law Obituary

William Willie” Ohme Law, age 89 of Grand Haven, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019 after a brief illness. He was born on March 27, 1930 in Grand Haven, MI to the late William and Gertrude Helen (Gosen) Law.

Willie spent his entire life in Grand Haven, retiring from the City of Grand Haven after many years of service. He greatly enjoyed his time working for the city he loved so much. Willie will always be remembered as a man of good humor, a lover of dogs and chocolate, a great story-teller, devout Catholic, loyal friend, great father, and loving grandfather. It’s hard to imagine Christmas, family sporting events, Coast Guard Festival, and Sunday Mass without him. We’ll miss his “million dollar” smile, his presence in the same pew at St. Pat’s every Sunday, his freshly baked kuchen, his hilarious anecdotes, and front porch conversations. To know Willie was to know a man that needed little else other than good conversation, a can of Natural Light, and his dog, Molly. Willie was loved by many, and his memory will live on in the lives of those who knew him best. He valued family and friendships above all else, and will be greatly missed.

Willie will be lovingly remembered by his children and their spouses: Phillip (Nancy) Law, William Thomas “Tommy” (Stephanie) Law, Catherine “Cathy” (Douglas Fett) Law, and David (Lori) Law; grandchildren, Eric (Terri) Law, Jillian (Nick) Gilmour, Angela (Nicholas) Baisden, Erica (Roger) Clark, Isiah “Zeke” Law, and Alexandra “Alex” Law; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Alec Law, Lilly and Beau Gilmour, Ivy Baisden, Brody and Samantha Clark; and several friends and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy Louise (Rasch) Law; his brother, Robert W. Law; mother, Gertrude Helen Gosen; and step-father, Thomas Garrett Gosen.

A Family Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Lake Forest Cemetery with Father Charles Schwartz officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
