Vivian Jean Bixeman, age 95 of Spring Lake, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Heartwood Lodge. She was born July 24, 1923 in Muskegon, MI to George and Leona (Martin) Carrier. Vivian married Donald J. Bixeman on January 18, 1962 and he preceded her in death on October 9, 2010.
Vivian was a long-time member of the Red Hat Society, the owner/operator of the Looking Glass Beauty Shop, and former co-owner of Bernie’s Bait & Tackle in Casnovia, MI. She was a master seamstress in sewing, and she loved golfing and traveling south to Yuma, AZ in the colder months. Vivian was a great story-teller and she often told great stories to her kids and grandkids.
Vivian will be forever loved and missed by her daughter, Luann Kindem of Grand Haven; son, Dennis (Mary) Johnson of Wisconsin; step-daughter, Gale Bixeman of Spring Lake; step-son, Don J. Bixeman Jr., of Spring Lake; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Doris Johnson and Virginia DeWitt both of Fremont, and Evie (Dalton) Mater of Sparta; and sisters-in-law, Jean and Betty Carrier. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Donald; son-in-law, David Kindem; sister, Marie Dueling; brothers, Alvin, William, and George Carrier; and great-granddaughter, Venessa Koopman.
The Memorial Service for Vivian will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Melvin officiating.
Memorial Contributions may be given to Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
