Thomas Henry Linkous, age 69 of Grand Haven, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 17, 1950 in Harlem, KY to Fredrick and Pauline (Cooper) Linkous. Tom married Connie Sonnenberg on October 26, 1974 in Bradington, Fl.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. from 1969 to 1972, during the Vietnam War. Tom worked as a machinist for Lakeshore Fitting Company for 25 years, and was a former coach of the Tri-Cities Little League Baseball and Football. Tom enjoyed watching NASCAR races and was a fan of most sports; when he wasn’t watching a Detroit Tigers or Detroit Redwings game, you could find him bowling with his buddies or out golfing. Tom was was a good father who valued spending time with his family, and especially loved being a grandfather to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Tom will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 44 years, Connie; two daughters, Julie (Shawn) Kuck and Jenny Linkous (Chris Hopkins); son, Seth Linkous (Bobbi Defeyter); 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Marilyn Sonnenberg; sister, Rita (Thomas) Golden; sisters-in-law, Nancy (Randy) Gravel and Joann Newhouse; brother, Larry (Colleen) Linkous; brother-in-law, David (Cheryl) Sonnenberg; and his faithful canine companion, Angel. He was preceded in death by one brother; four sisters; and father-in-law, Clarence Sonnenberg.
A Memorial Service for Tom will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Bytwerk officiating. Full Military Rites will be performed by the American Legion, Charles A. Conklin Post 28. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
