Stuart J. Engel

Stuart J. Engel, age 90, of Grand Haven passed away Monday, July 16, 2018.  He was born June 9, 1928 in Grand Haven to the late John and Nettie (Pellegrom) Engel.  Stuart married the former Shirley Nederveld July 10, 1952 in Grandville, MI.  He lived in Grand Haven all of his life and worked for several dairy’s including Klempel's, Highland Park, Far View and Mc Donald’s for over 30 years.  Stu also worked for the Grand Haven Public Schools for 10 years serving as building and grounds Superintendent.  He enjoyed spending his winters in Bradenton, FL and summers at his cottage in Scottville. Stuart was an active member of Trinity Reformed Church where he served as elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher, youth group leader and catechism teacher.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951 thru 1953. 

He is survived by his dear wife of 66 years; Shirley, daughter; Sharon (Gary) Williams of Grandville; sons; Douglas (Sindy) Engel of Big Rapids, Mark (Faith) Engel and Timothy (Amy) Engel of Grand Haven He was preceded in death by grandson Mitch Engel; siblings; Doris Ralya, Evelyn Hutchinson, Harriet Van Oordt, Betty Engel and Kenneth Engel. 

The Funeral Service for Stu will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Trinity Reformed Church with Pastor Randy Bremmer officiating. Friends may meet the family 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Klaassen Family Funeral Home.  Interment will be in Grand Haven Township Lakeshore Cemetery.  Full Military Rites will be performed by the American Legion Post #28.  Memorial Contributions may be given to Trinity Reformed Church of Grand Haven.
