Patricia Ann (Mielke) Walter

Patricia Ann Walter, age 74 of Grand Haven, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. She was born on February 10, 1945 in Milwaukee, WI to Robert and Julia (Sopko) Mielke. Pat married Jerry L. Walter on February 10, 1984 and he preceded her in death on January 12, 2019.

Pat was a graduate of Messmer High School in Milwaukee. After moving to Michigan, she was employed by Molesta Floral in Grand Rapids as a florist. She then worked for McDonald’s of Grand Haven, followed by Johnston Boiler in Ferrysburg, where she served as an administrative assistant.

Pat was an artist who enjoyed making jewelry and working with stained glass. She attended many craft shows, where she enjoyed showcasing and selling her pieces of art.  Pat and Jerry enjoyed traveling the United States and went to all 48 states and the Baja Peninsula in their motor home. They spent an extended amount of time in Mexico in the winter, where many of their friends still reside. She also enjoyed knitting, reading, and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pat will be remembered most for being a very giving person who was always willing to help young people in need.

Pat will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children, Karin Samuelson of Grand Haven and James (Cindy) Samuelson of Spring Lake; her four grandchildren, Heather, Tyler, Emily, and Erika; and 3 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother, Robert (Avery Grace) Mielke of Missouri; a niece and nephew; and very special friend and care-giver, Janine Dekker.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Walter; and brother, Donald Mielke. 

A private graveside service for Pat will take place at Lake Forest Cemetery with Rev. Jared Cramer officiating.
