Norman W. Halverson, 94, of Grand Haven, passed peacefully, on Saturday, July 22, 2017 in Howell, MI.  He was born to Harry and Etta (Dick) Halverson on May 15, 1923 in Chicago, IL.  Norman married Carol Jones on October 20, 1951 in Chicago. She passed away February 3, 2011.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII as a precision radio technical specialist and in the occupied forces from 1943-1945. Upon honorable discharge from the service, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from the American Television Institute of Technology in Chicago worked at IBM in Chicago before moving his family to Michigan where he worked for Anaconda Wire & Cable Company in Muskegon as an Electrical Engineer for 30 years.

He was mechanically gifted and loved to work on radios & televisions in his spare time, he was also an avid music lover with the ability to play almost any instrument he touched and loved listening to the big band music of the 1920's. His storytelling abilities, infectious laugh and magic tricks will be missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by their daughters, Sheri (Bob) Poel of Linden, MI and Sandi (Keith) Wheaton of Lebanon, TN; grandchildren; Keri (Pat) Murphy, Kim (Dave) Breeding, Kristy (Matt) Rossow, Jenna (Russell) Gavin, Kelli Wheaton, and Cailyn Wheaton, great grandchildren: Madison, Matthew, Hunter, Haidyn, Haylee, Kenton, Derek, Chase and Brody,  and sister-in-law, Norma Halverson of New Hampshire. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, great grandson, Olin, brother, Howard Halverson, and sister, Carol Akin.  A private family graveside service has been held. Interment in Grand Haven Township Lakeshore Cemetery.
