Nellie Herlein

Nellie Herlein, age 95, of Grand Haven and Bradenton, Florida passed away Monday, January 8, 2018 at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton. Nellie was born April 23, 1922 in Muskegon, the daughter of Harry and Jennie (Bosch) Katt. She married Jay Herlein on September 27, 1945 in Muskegon. He preceded her in death in 1995. Nellie had been employed by Sealed Power in Muskegon as a secretary, and also worked at Schafer Bakery. She loved sewing, camping, playing games, and spending time in Florida in the winter months. She was a lifetime member of the Christian Reformed church, served as a Calvinette counselor and was currently a member of Second Christian Reformed. Nellie will be dearly missed by her children, Linda (Dan Shepard) of Bradenton, Florida and Larry (Carla) Herlein of Spring Lake; 6 grandchildren: Jennifer, Jon, Jackie, Kari, Kyle, and Kelsey, 3 great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Pauline Smith. 3 brothers and 3 sisters preceded her in death. The Funeral Service for Nellie will be on Monday, January 22, at 11:00 AM at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor Laura de Jong officiating.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service from 10-11AM.  Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Western Michigan Christian High School.
