Michael Carl Ricklefs, age 72 of Grand Haven, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Mercy Hospital. He was born July 13, 1946 in Ludington, MI to Charles and Anna (Bentz) Ricklefs. Michael married his high school sweetheart, Kaye Diane Fisher on November 6, 1965 in Ludington.
He served his country as a Specialist for the Army National Guard of Michigan from January 1966 to January of 1972. Michael previously worked as Salesman, selling cars and insurance, and was Owner/Manager of Clark Gas Station in Ludington for several years. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Over the years, he traveled all across the state to watch his daughter and grandchildren’s sporting, dance, and theater events.
Michael loved cars and motorcycles from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s, and owned many of his favorites throughout his life. If he didn’t own them, he at least had a model in his extensive collection of die cast cars. During the 70’s when he owned Corvettes, he was an active member of a Corvette Club. Mike also loved Elvis’ music, politics, and taking trips to the casino. He had a great love for animals, especially his beloved Miniature Schnauzer, Cassie, and French Bulldog, Olive.
Michael will be forever remembered and missed by his wife of 52 years, Kaye; daughter, Michelle (Steven) Allard of Spring Lake; two grandchildren, Ian and Inez Allard; sisters, Charleene Cooper of Grand Haven and Sheryl O’Brien of Ludington; brother, James “Chico” Ricklefs of Ludington; sisters-in-law, Marie Ricklefs of North Muskegon and Cheri (Irv) Welch of Ludington; brothers-in-law, Gene Brooks-Fisher of Grand Haven and Jerry (Shelly) Fisher of Ludington; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers: Gary, Richard, and Raymond Ricklefs.
