June Ann (Rowell) Johnson

June Ann Johnson, age 62, of Grand Haven passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Hackley Hospital. She was born on August 12, 1955 to Herbert and Jacoba (VerBerkmoes) Rowell in Grand Haven. June married the love of her life, Michael Johnson, on September 28, 1974 in Grand Haven.

She was a long-time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 925 Ladies Auxiliary in Grand Haven, where she and her husband volunteered many hours during the Coast Guard Festival Entertainment Tent hosted by the Eagles. June was also a long-time member of the Grand Haven VFW: Sgt. Alvin Jonker Post #2326, and the American Legion: Charles A. Conklin Post #28. She enjoyed playing card games, going to the casinos, spending time with her family, and traveling to Mexico. June had a passion for animals, especially dogs, and her family always knew the love and joy having a dog brings.

She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 43 years, Michael; her daughter, Michelle (Cory) Stillson of Muskegon; son, Michael (Lisa) Johnson II. of Grand Haven; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Kelley, T.J., Alexis, Serena, Christopher, and Tyler Holm; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Jess Jewell, Emily Jewell, and Betty (Jack) Wydeck all of Grand Haven; sister-in-law, Donna (Duke) Johnson; brothers, Chuck (Carla) Rowell of Canton, George Rowell of Grand Haven; close friend, Sharon VanderWall; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. June was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Dee Johnson; and a nephew, Jesse Allan Jewell.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Grand Haven Eagles (downstairs). Memorial contributions may be given to The American Cancer Society - Michigan.
