Joann Marlene Boon, age 84, of Grand Haven passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018. Joann was born August 9, 1933 in Muskegon to Harry and Lucille (Vandermeiden) Noordhof. She married Arie Boon on June 26, 1953 in Grand Haven. Joann had been employed by Peoples Bank, then Christian Haven Home, where she worked as a secretary for 26 years. She was an active member of First Reformed Church where she served as a Stephen’s Minister. Joann loved baking, scrap booking and sending cards to people. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, traveling, and most especially, watching her beloved Detroit Tigers play baseball. Joann will be dearly missed by her husband, Arie; daughter, Linda (Bill) Brown of Grand Haven; son, David (Yvonne) Boon of Grand Haven; daughter-in-law, Kelly Boon of North Carolina; son-in-law, Bruce Johnston of Arizona; 9 grandchildren, Heather, Cecilia, Arie, Anthony, Alida, Ellen, Madeline, Jerod and Logan; 3 great-grandchildren; Wyatt, Cora and Thomas; sisters-in-law, Yvette Noordhof of Galesburg, Nancy Boon of Spring Lake, and Liz Hughey of California. She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Boon; daughter, LuAnn Johnston and brother, Harry Noordhof. The Funeral Service for Joann will be on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM at First Reformed Church with Pastors John Kenny and John Koedyker officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, January 28, 3:00-5:00 PM at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Ottawa Community or Levine Children’s Hospital.
