Joan A. Thomas of Spring Lake passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017. She was born January 10, in Newago, Michigan to William and Frieda (Mallory) Kent. After graduating from Newago High School Joan worked as office assistant for Clark Floor Machine, then as office manager for Blue Cross, Blue Shield and then as assistant to the President of Aquinas College. She finished her career as assistant to the General Manager of B.D.O. Siedman. Joan loved to sew and redecorate their homes. She enjoyed cooking and was very good at it. Joan was a very active volunteer for Counter Part. She was also an avid Notre Dame football fan, and thoroughly enjoyed life and her time on the beach with family.

 Joan is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Robert; daughter, Vicki (John) Weaver of Whitehall; 2 grandchildren, Scott and John (Becky) Weaver. Two amazing Great-Grand daughters, Ryann and Kaley Weaver, and great grand dog, Maggie Mae. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and 1 brother. The Celebration of Life for Joan will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, December 14 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home with Pastor John Brown officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service, from 10-11AM at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rothi Foundation.
