Jeanne Doreen (Luurstema) Reenders, 84, returned to her heavenly home on April 8, 2017 after a brief but valiant battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s. Her devotion to her family and her belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Jeanne was born in Olive Township, Michigan to the late James and Marie Luurtsema on February 13, 1933. After graduating from Hudsonville High School, she was employed several years with Michigan Bell in Grand Rapids. She met the love of her life, Lawrence Reenders at Grand Haven’s Oval (State Park) and they were married on June 24, 1954 at Bauer Christian Reformed Church. The couple had celebrated their 61st anniversary prior to Lawrence’s passing in October 2015. Together with her husband, she was a cofounder of Reenders Blueberry Farms where she continued working in the office along with her sister Shirley until September 2016. Jeanne was a member of Hope Reformed Church serving with the Women’s Guild, Couples Fellowship and was part of the choir. She enjoyed reading, knitting, traveling with friends and spending the winter walking the beach in Marco Island, FL. Jeanne will be dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her Savior. Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Valerie (James) Loftis and son Bruce (Karen) Reenders both of Grand Haven; her 5 grandchildren Anje (Kyle) Crow of Montague, Joshua (Maricela) Loftis, Seth (Alicia) Reenders, Kyle (Andrea) Reenders, Luke (Parisa) Reenders all of Grand Haven; 11 great-grandchildren, Carter & Ava Crow, Evan, Isabella & Kellan Loftis, Emma, Grace, Arend Reenders, Josiah Reenders, Keegan & Aria Reenders. Her 12th great-grandchild is expected in August. She is also survived by her sister Shirley (Kenneth) Reenders, sister-in-law Sue Luurtsema and Phyllis Reenders, special friends Marv & Millie Grit and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, in-laws Clarence & Angie Reenders, infant sister Betty Luurtsema, brothers, Robert & Allen Luurstema and Kenneth Martinus, sister-in-law Mildred (Frank) Holzinger and brother-in-law Marvin Reenders. A special thank you to her caregiver Maria (Estela) Camacho and the staff at Lakeshore Assisted Living. The funeral service for Jeanne will be 11:00 am Friday, April 14, 2017 at Hope Reformed Church with Pastor Tim Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Hope Reformed Church.
