Jean A. Madl, age 85, of Grand Haven passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Mercy Health Partners in Muskegon. Jean was born November 28, 1932 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Edmund and Stephanie (Marko) Kutz. Due to the death of her mother at a young age, she was raised by her grandmother, the late Valaria Kutz. She was a lifetime resident of the area and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Jean was self-employed and spent many years working and growing the Christmas tree and blueberry farms she owned with her husband. She was also a Fuller Brush distributor, which brought her a lot of enjoyment in talking to and taking care of her clients and customers. She enjoyed her time in retail at the Chickadee and Holly store in downtown Grand Haven. Jean loved to cook and bake and made most things from scratch. She was an avid reader, enjoyed collecting antiques and loved to travel the world and would visit other countries when given the opportunity. Jean is survived by her daughter, Judy (Raymond) Tejchma; sons, Greg Madl and George E. (Dawn) Madl; father of her children, George J. Madl; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; half-sister, Laura Clark; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and God-child, Pamela Kutz-McClain. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert and brother, Edward. A Celebration of Life for Jean will be in held in January, in Chicago, where most of her family resides. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
