Jean (Bidelman) Doane

F. Jean Doane age 95 of Grand Haven passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017.  Jean was born April 26, 1921 to Charles and Mary Ann (Wenger) Bidelman in Quimby, MI. She graduated from Grand Rapids Central High School and received her associate’s degree from Grand Rapids Community College. Jean married Charles Doane on March 6, 1942. He preceded her in death in 1951.  Jean worked as an executive secretary for Challenge Machinery retiring in 1983. She was a former member of the National Secretaries Association and the American Legion Auxiliary. Jean enjoyed sewing and was an accomplished seamstress in her youth having made most of her formal wear. She enjoyed golfing, was an avid reader and had a love for animals. She was happiest when spending time with her family and friends. Jean will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Marsha Nienhouse and son Russ (Mary) Doane both of Grand Haven; grandchildren, Kris Piotrowicz, Nicole Shugars, Sarah Bronsema, Kim Goldman and Mindy Nienhouse; 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother. A memorial service for Jean will take place at a later date.
