Sorry to hear about the passing of 'Mrs. Van.' I remember her as a playground supervisor at Ferry School. I think she even helped out with the Safety Patrol. I recall her blowing her whistle at the kids playing King of the Hill on the snow mountains and soothing kids with skinned knees. Her accent was fun to listen to and I enjoyed walking around the playground listening to her chat with the other children.
I hope that it brings you joy knowing that Mrs. Van touched the lives of many children while at Ferry School.

I am glad that I had the privilege of knowing Gerry. She told me the story of how she met her husband Larry back in the Netherlands. It was truly delightful, as she was and her wonderful homemade Dutch cookies.

Barry and I adored Gerry. When we spent time talking, it was so clear how very, very much she loved her family. Larry was the love of her life and her children and grandchildren -she adored them. She could dance, tell a great joke, and had a lifetime of great stories to share. She ended each phone call with "Love you" and we loved her too. We praise God for her life and also mourn her death.

We are so saddened to hear this news however we rejoice that Mrs. VanElzelingen will be celebrating with the angels at Christmas. We loved seeing gladiolas in her front window each spring and summer. she will be missed in the neighborhood.
